About Speaker Audrey Gelman
Audrey Gelman is a former political staffer and successful Co-founder and CEO of The Wing. Her coworking spaces across NYC, LA, Chicago, London and elsewhere are a haven for women to meet, work and thrive together. Audrey made history when she became the first visibly pregnant woman to appear on the cover of a major business magazine. Now that’s work life balance! Her poignant Inc. Magazine cover and life story empowers working mothers and all women in the workplace to never underestimate their abilities and self worth.
Audrey launched The Wing in 2016 with her friend and confidant Lauren Kassan. Their original idea was to create a modern day version of 19th century and 20th century women’s clubs. Together they raised $2.4 million in initial funding and their first space opened in NYC with 200 original members. They have since built a women’s business community with 14 locations in 9 major domestic cities and abroad. What’s more, The Wing has over 600,000 followers on social media engaging in their women’s empowerment movement. A staggering number of these followers don’t even live in the cities where Wing locations exist. That stat alone is a testament to Audrey’s incredible ability to inspire women all over the world.
Outside of her entrepreneurial endeavors, Audrey also has a background in politics. She left her studies at a private liberal arts college in 2008 to work on Hillary Clinton’s first Presidential Campaign. Over the next few years she had a hand in resurrecting the political action committee Downtown for Democracy in addition to working is deputy communications director for Scott Stringer’s successful bid for New York City Comptroller. In 2013, she joined SKDKnickerbocker serving as a consultant for Democratic politicians.
Audrey’s work has not gone unnoticed. She has been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 List, Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list as well as being tapped by TechCrunch as a leading lady in tech.
